We are a research team leading by professor Samuel A. Hevia working in surface science and nanotechnology at the Institute of Physics of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Our research is focused on the use of nanomaterials in technological applications. We explore fabrication methods and studied the physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials, thin layers and surfaces, using advanced experimental techniques. Particularly we are exploring their use in photocatalysts for green hydrogen production, sensors, and cathodes for lithium-ion batteries.
Dr. Samuel Hevia
Dr. Samuel Hevia received his PhD in Physics from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in 2009, with the thesis work entitled "Inverse Photoemission of Carbon Nanotubes" under the advising of Dr. Patricio Häberle. In 2010 was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Universidad of California, San Diego (USA), at the Center for Advanced Nanoscience, in the group of the Distinguished Professor Dr. Ivan K. Schuller. Currently is the Director of the Research Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (CIEN-UC) and Associate Professor in the Institute of Physics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Also is a researcher of Millenium Institute on Green Ammonia as Energy Vector (MIGA).
